Small Business Marketing Tips

When you are in a business that is not going so well, it is easy to simply pull out your shares and quit from the business. However, if you are a sole proprietor, or if you truly invested your time ad effort into the business, it may not be as easy to let go. This is why, the only option for most people is to experiment with their marketing strategies. Think outside the box to keep ahead of the pack and come up with marketing strategies that will have more positive effects on your target market. In the end if you allow for your customer base to grow (by information drives and similar strategies) your business will end up being more successful.

One way to effectively advertise your products or services is through mass media like television and the radio. Especially when placed at the proper time, on the proper channels, radio ads and television ads can be very effective as they have some of the widest reach when it comes to advertising tools.

Just remember to carefully study which channels your target market watch, what time they tune in, and which types of ads do they respond to. Another way to reach a large number of people is through ads in bus stops or benches. Inquire to your local transit companies about the packages they offer and how effective are they proven to be. Also, the internet is one advertising tool that must not be forgotten. Since many people today are online much longer than they watch television, or listen to the radio, it is a great idea to advertise on the internet. If you place proper ads on the proper websites at the proper time, in the proper format, then you should yield a positive result from it.

For businesses that not only sell directly to end-consumers but also supply materials to other businesses, trade shows really provide great opportunities. Trade shows often get a lot of publicity and help people recognize your brand more and more. However, trade shows may be very costly. The solution: look for smaller trade shows and bazaars in your locality and start small, but think big. Remember not to discount the power of word-of-mouth. You will never know, but somebody in your locale may have connections that would lead you to success. Other strategies like posting on ebay, creating websites, or even simple Facebook pages may also help. Remember, the key here is thinking outside the box to get noticed.

Anna Brand: 'Bethenny Ever After' Finale Recap: A Time for Change Situation

The time has come, my friends. We're saying goodbye to Season 3 of "Bethenny Ever After" and the farewells are bound to be bittersweet.

We know she's not leaving the spotlight forever (like she ever could, really) -- in fact, our Queen has already left her brand-spankin' new apartment for the hills of Los Angeles where she'll be trying out her very own talk show this summer. And knowing B, the show will most likely continue to highlight the dysfunctional aspects of her hectic life.

From her constant battle with Hoppy to literally scaring away an intern, she has been on quite the chaotic ride. Now that Julie is basically out of the picture, things are about to take a giant, terrifying turn. During the highly anticipated finale, B is bound to drop some sort of a bombshell. Could it be that baby No. 2 is on the way? Have divorce papers already been drawn? Is Bryn starring in Bravo's new show "Real Babies of Psychotic Ex-Housewives"? We're about to find out ...

"Can't Get Enough of You" Bethenny
- Walking into Manhattan Mexican restaurant Tortilla Flats with her employees and describing it as "cheap and easy" ... just like the whole gang.
- Toasting basically everyone at the table for being so fabulous for the company, including Dawa, who arguably communicates via Etch A Sketch.
- Raising glasses to "the land of misfits," otherwise known at her hectic posse. It may not be the usual way to boost morale at a company party, but it's genuinely appreciated ... especially when topped off with another pitcher ... and another.
- Revealing a fun and flirty side during a Glamour photo shoot that actually doesn't include sexual or inappropriate implications. OK, minus the one facial expression ...
- Tearing up in the makeup chair realizing that this is the last photo shoot she'll have with Julie. She tries to halt her emotions by squeezing stress balls in her fist (and mouth) and demanding decaf iced coffee, but no such luck. Only until Julie blasts a blow dryer in her face do the tears stop streaming.
- "I know it will be fine once this moment passes, but right now it's too much." Pretty much sums up how most people feel during a time of change, wouldn't you say?
- Bringing a cake to the table (that, dare I say, she made?) for Julie and praising her goodness.
- Washing down cake with what looks like a hard alcoholic beverage. I mean, straight vodka hard.
- Going down memory lane from the time Julie held up B's wedding dress as she peed on ... the floor ... to asking Julie to be Bryn's godmother.
- Taking Bryn furniture shopping and ending up playing hide and seek in curtains undoubtedly more expensive than a year's rent in my Manhattan apartment.
- Fast-forward three months and B and Hoppy seem happier than ever, lounging on what looks like the last piece of furniture in their now old apartment.
- In their new home, she and Hoppy share one of the only meaningful kisses I've seen on this season. Hugs all around!
- Stepping into her new closet, which could essentially house a family of six, and celebrating with cocktails over her stilettos.
- Playing with Bryn in her new ultra-girly room after the first night in the castle. Little do they know, she's about to draw on all the walls.
- Blow-drying her new, obviously lavish couch chair thing, after Bryn not surprisingly knocks down a flower vase. "Living the life, just living the life." And she's thrown back into reality.

Total: 15

"Run for Your Life" Bethenny
- Calling up Nick the food blogger and ordering him to leave what he's doing and rush over to Tortilla Flats. Even though he's clearly beyond an after thought, he's flattered and somehow arrives in less than three seconds. With brushed hair.
- Walking into a Glamour photo shoot with bed-head so horrific you'd think rats nested in her hair overnight.
- Back in Dr. Armadillo's office, she admits over a cracking voice that, "I don't know what's going on in my life." It feels so real, I almost forget she's having these "intimate" sessions in front of a camera crew. But then I look at Dr. A.'s faux tan and everything is clear again.
- Allowing Julie to fetch a multi Starbucks order on her last day. This is when B is supposed to offer to get Julie a breakfast beverage. Alas.
- Letting her nipples shoot out of her sheer white top like torpedoes while at work. Of course, when Hoppy expresses concern about men walking in and seeing her goods, she snaps back without catching a breath. "Call HR, who cares! You're lucky I'm wearing underwear in the office."
- Chatting on the phone with her publicist about gigantic news she's been keeping a secret. When she spies Hoppy in the apartment, she orders, "Go in your room! Why are you outside this door? Why are you eavesdropping?" You'd think news so big would have been discussed with her husband, but naturally, that's not the case for this work-comes-first couple.
- Calling an immediate meeting in the kitchen to announce that she's landed the talk show in Los Angeles. Although it's only for the summer, she'll be uprooting her entire team to the "best coast." She poses it as an open discussion to her group, but they all know the only answer is agree or go home.
- Packing up last-minute things on their final night in the Tribeca apartment and reminiscing about the memories, like the porn box B knows Hoppy keeps in the closet.
- Having anxiety about her sex toy collection being picked through by the movers in her new apartment, especially since she used them in the last month.
- Stepping into their new home for the first time and screaming in shock. "This is like a real apartment," she says. Though she must know it is not what anyone would ever call a real apartment. It's a Hamptons home on crack.
- Crouching down in the kitchen after finding out she's expected to move to L.A. in exactly one month. Time to pack up the bags! Again!

Total: 11

So there you have it. Bethenny's "Can't Get Enough of You" side came out on top, not just this week, but overall for the season. Though her hysterical outbursts often got the best of her, she certainly revealed a more vulnerable (but no less hilarious) side this season. Of course, there were absolute nightmares, including the "lost at sea" boat ride from hell, finding out her mom was selling made-up stories to the tabloids, her employee quitting in a fit of terror after boat ride No. 2 and the tremendous tension with Hoppy. But back to the good: Bringing Nick the food blogger to get his very first eyebrow threading, sending Julie off with hugs, kisses and perfectly iced cake, teaching Bryn how to lock down a man using the foolproof popsicle technique, and never forgetting to give Cookie love. And although "Bethenny Ever After" is closing this chapter, we can all look forward to B gracing the small screen once again in less than a month. She's not going anywhere anytime soon. Praise the power of a cocktail.

The Asian Age ? Pakistan defers signing of visa deal, India miffed

Asian Age Correspondent, with agency inputs

Islamabad/New Delhi, 26 May 2012. India and Pakistan on Friday failed to sign an agreement on a liberalised visa regime, expected at the end of the home secretary-level talks in Islamabad, and merely agreed to do so soon, after Islamabad insisted at the last minute on ?political participation?.

The two sides, however, did agree to further cooperation between their investigative agencies, including on 26/11, while Pakistan agreed in principle to receive an Indian judicial commission for a probe into the November 2008 Mumbai attacks.

India?s displeasure at Friday?s developments was evident with foreign secretary Ranjan Mathai telling reporters in New Delhi: ?We had gone there fully prepared to sign it (the agreement).? He also noted ?both sides had attached a lot of importance on signing the visa agreement?.

Mr Mathai attributed the failure to ink the pact to ?some delay in their (Pakistani) procedures? as well as Pakistan interior minister Rehman Malik?s ?desire for political participation in inking the agreement?.

Mr Malik, who met India?s home secretary R.K. Singh separately, said he had invited home minister P. Chidambaram to visit Pakistan, and hoped the agreement could be signed during Mr Chidambaram?s visit.

Mr Malik had made a similar suggestion a month ago, but Mr Chidambaram had declined then, suggesting it be done at the talks between the home secretaries.

Mr Mathai recalled the decision (on the visa agreement) was taken when Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in New Delhi in April. The planned visa regime relaxation was seen as a major step in furthering the peace process. External affairs minister S.M. Krishna told Parliament after the Singh-Zardari meeting a ?liberalised visa agreement should be signed at the next meeting of the home secretaries?.

A joint statement issued in Islamabad on Friday after the two-day talks between Mr R.K. Singh and Pakistan?s Khwaja Siddique Akbar said the two nations agreed to sign a new visa agreement at an early date. The Pakistani side said ?some internal approvals were under process, and (it) will be signed once they are in place?.

On 26/11, it said Pakistan ?agreed in principle to receive a judicial commission from India?, and that ?modalities, mandate and composition of the commission will be worked out through diplomatic channels?.

Mr Malik said both sides exchanged dossiers on terror-related issues, and Pakistan had got additional evidence from India against Hafiz Saeed. He added Pakistan could not act on the basis of ?hearsay?, and that it would examine the evidence against Saeed.

(AP) ? Ryder Hesjedal became the first Canadian to win one of cycling's three major tour races, capturing the Giro d'Italia on Sunday by overtaking Spain's Joaquin Rodriguez in the final stage.

Hesjedal started the 21st stage 31 seconds behind the leader, but finished 16 seconds ahead of Rodriguez in the overall standings. He completed the 17.5-mile individual time trial in 34 minutes, 15 seconds. That was good for sixth place ? 20 spots ahead of Rodriguez in the 95th edition of the race.

"It's just been an unreal experience from Day One, what the team was able to do. It's unbelievable," said Hesjedal, whose total race time was 91 hours, 39 minutes, 2 seconds. "This is incredible. It's a dream come true."

He is only the third non-Italian to win the Giro in the past 15 years.

"I couldn't have done it without the team," he said. "I knew I was good when I came into the race. I stayed focused and took every opportunity. The support, the fans at home, it's all unreal. I'd like to thank everyone."

Like the rest of the riders, Hesjedal had been through a demanding mountain ride to the top of the Stelvio Pass in northern Italy on Saturday.

"Yesterday was extremely hard," he said. "I got through it and I knew as I was on the helicopter descending into Milan that I still had a shot. This morning I just felt incredible on my bike and I knew I could do it."

Though he hadn't taken his victory chances seriously before the race, Hesjedal's thinking started to change after he first wore the pink jersey on Stage 7, following a fifth-place finish.

"I never thought I'm going to win," he said. "I was always just focused on having a good ride and I knew that would put me up there. The day I pulled on the jersey for the first time I knew I was good and could accomplish something great and that drove me harder."

It is the first major victory for Hesjedal, whose sixth place in the 2010 Tour de France was the highest Canadian finish in the race in 22 years.

"It can only be a good thing for the sport in Canada and I'm proud of that," the Garmin rider said. "Just the other day someone went into a store in Canada and asked where they could get a pink Garmin jersey...so it still has a way to go!"

Hesjedal and Rodriguez were the last two riders to start. Rodriguez, who had worn the pink jersey for 10 days over the course of the race, ended the stage in 35:02.

"It's only now, with hindsight, that you see the mistakes," said Rodriguez, who rides for Katusha. "Maybe we should have distanced Ryder in the first week. But it went how it went and Ryder won. He was the strongest in the three weeks. I did my best and I don't have any regrets."

Marco Pinotti won the final stage in 33:06, 39 seconds ahead of Britain's Geraint Thomas. It is the sixth stage victory for an Italian rider in this year's Giro, beating the country's 1974 record of five.

"This was a big goal for me," Pinotti said. "I won the last time trial here at the Giro in 2008 and I was second in 2010 and last year it was a big goal. But I crashed two days before and had to go to the hospital. So I've been working for this for a year. For me, it's been a difficult Giro."

Thomas De Gendt, who rode to a memorable solo win Saturday, put in another good performance to finish third overall, 1:39 behind Hesjedal. The Belgian had been 5:40 behind Rodriguez at the start of Stage 20.

Defending champion Michele Scarponi was fourth. It is the first time since 1995 that an Italian has not finished on the podium in the Giro, one of the sport's top three races with the Tour de France and the Spanish Vuelta. Two-time Giro winner Ivan Basso was fifth, 3:44 off the pace.

Taylor Phinney, who won the opening time trial in Denmark, took a wrong turn during the last stage and was forced to turn around. He finished the stage in 16th place in 34:37.

The final stage was shortened by about a mile because of road work.
